In all the madness of the holiday season, I forgot to mention that something supremely terrible and sad happened. My friend David from Chicago passed away a few days before Christmas. I keep trying to keep myself from thinking about it because it just makes me feel horrible. He was a sweet, wonderful and hilarious person. We didn't really keep in touch since I left Chi but I had been sort of keeping tabs on him via his girlfriend and mutual ex-coworker Lindsey on facebook. I feel like a terrible friend because apparently he died of cancer and I didn't even know he was sick. I'm at a loss except to say that I feel sympathy for Lindsey and his family. I know he will not be forgotten by anyone that knew him because of the vivacious lust for life he had. He was so smart and funny.
Rest in Peace, David Kief

News-full June
I know it's been a couple weeks since my last few posts...life gets crazy sometimes:
I didn't completely stop doing my food diary. I did, however, stop being so diligent with the calorie counting. I have every intention of returning to the habit a little more resolutely come July. But with all that's going on and will go on by then who knows what will happen? For the record though, the calorie counting does work...I lost 7 lbs during the month of May making my grand total since New Years 18 lbs. Go me! Now I've stayed the same for the past 3 weeks, which is good considering all of the occasions...I do plan on getting back into my exercising and workout plan, which has been on hold because of all the craziness.
First on the list of crazy things: I'm finally moving out of my brother and sister-in-law's basement. I'll be moving in with Matt's cousin Justin. He's 21, just bought his first house. He's got money, but not a clue. So Angela and I have taken it upon ourselves to take charge of the house before I move in to get it in order and make it a little more like a home and a little less like a dumpy bachelor pad. We've spent a fair amount of time over there cleaning and whatnot. We (as in Angela and me) will be picking paint (which Justin's going to buy) and painting the whole place soon. I plan on being totally moved in there by July 1st. Lucky for me he's pretty flexible about when I move in and when I pay rent which will be affordable as soon as I get a better job. I've been looking for awhile now and have had a couple responses.
The main reason I don't already have a new job is because June is the month of my summer classes at the Washington Pavilion. I had my Canvas Creations painting class last week and have my Art Explorers class next week. Last week was insane having my class every afternoon still watching Z on three of the days and working at Michaels on two of the nights. Also, Wednesday was my 25th birthday. Wooty woot! It was Terri's birthday too, and Thursday was Aaron's birthday. We had a family cookout on Tuesday night. Dad made ribs on the grill; Mom made homemade mashed potatoes, her tasty coleslaw salad. We had fruit and chocolate ice cream cake and everyone was there. On my actual b-day Matt and Angela took me out to Bracco's for half-off drinks. We splurged on some "Jamaican-me-crazy"s, nachos and a Bob Marley-tini. We also stopped off at Woody's for another drink. I didn't feel that great during class the next day but I had a great time.
The birthday celebrating continued on into the weekend when Marcy went into labor on Saturday night. Samantha Cadence Seaman, daughter of Jon and Marcella Seaman, was born Sunday at 12:34 in the afternoon; 6 lb 2 oz and 19 in long. I was working at the time and though the new parents were accepting visitors that night, most of the family waited to go up to the hospital until yesterday before lunch. She's beautiful and tiny. I'm so excited to be an auntie again! 1 nephew and now 3 nieces!!!
And now, as if all of this excitement wasn't enough, something else incredible happened to me on Saturday: I met someone. I don't want to jinx it or anything so I'm not going to get into a lot of details (ie his name). I'm gonna play it like Carrie on Sex in the City when she's writing her column; you don't really know Mr. Big's real name is John until the last episode. So I'm going to call this guy Mr. Nice. I will say that I'm really glad that I went out on Saturday night. I had gone painting at Jon and Marcy's in the morning (completely unsuspecting that she'd be popping in less that 24 hours!), and worked the rest of the day at Michaels. Angela called before my shift was over and said that Sara's new beau had a guy friend that I should meet and that they were going out for drinks that night. Lucky for me I had my flip-flops and a different shirt in my car. AND despite being unshowered, with grody failing make-up, my huge work pants and a baggy, rather unflattering top on, I'm fairly certain that Mr. Nice is genuinely into me. I guess it's just my charming personality (haha). I'd say that considering all I knew about him before meeting him was his name and all he knew was my name and that I'm kinda chatty, we hit it off like most people wish their fix-ups between friends would go. I know I said I wouldn't get into much detail so I'll just say that Mr. Nice lives about an hour away from here meaning he'll be mostly available to see on the weekends when he quite frequently comes to SooFoo to hang with friends. This is actually perfect for me the relationship-tard...It means we've got time to get to know each other without being too serious about it right away and that I'll still have time to do all the crap that I already have to do. That's one thing about relationships that I haven't figured out since I haven't had anything even close to one in over 3 years. How do you have time to do everything? I guess that sounds kinda bad: it's not that I don't want to see Mr. Nice until next weekend. However, I've been in a fantastic mood since we met and just the few sweet texts he's sent have been enough to make me all fluttery inside. There's no need to rush the good feelings that come with something new and exciting. I'm really looking forward to seeing him again this weekend...
Though I can't image he'll be down for coming to my parents' (6-months-early) 30th wedding anniversary Tahitian luau which is Saturday night. It would be amazing if he did, but I hardly expect something like that from a guy I just met especially considering I've never actually introduced my folks to anyone I've dated before. I'm pretty confident I'll be seeing him again this weekend, we'll just have to wait and see when. At any rate...GO ME! While for right now, financially, I'm fucked, I at least have a lot of great things in my life to keep me happy through the struggle...I'll try not to wait so long til my next post but I can't guarantee anything. ;)

Holy Crazy Workout Batman!
OMG. Aaron just got the workout dvds for P90X from Jon and Marcy last weekend. Well, I tried the Cardio X workout on Sunday which is approximately 45 minutes of extremely effective but mostly not very difficult exercises. Then last night I got about 45 minutes into the Yoga X workout. That was actually only halfway through the whole thing, but I did it after a quick episode of Namaste Yoga beforehand, about 15 minutes. My legs feel CRAZY today. I was looking for a workout that would be more challenging for my leg muscles and I've most definitely found it. I would very much like to try another of the P90X workouts today if I can handle it. I may try one that focuses on either arms or abs. If I can I want to do as much of 1 X workout every day this week. Then Saturday's weigh in should look really good. I think that though I did lose 6 pounds in the last 2 weeks (bringing my running total loss since New Years to just under 11 pounds, yay me!), I can still pull a loss if I do the workouts daily. I am pretty pleased with my progress thus far and I think I'm doing really well at integrating exercise into my daily routine. Yesterday I went to the mall with Angela for a little while. We ended up bringing lunch back to the apartment for us and Matt. She's told me how she's had some difficulties being consistent in going to the gym lately and asked if they could potentially come over to work out here with me. I think that would be awesome. I've been kinda getting over my anxiety about working out around people. I actually get excited to tell people about new workout videos or tips I've found. Sometime show them; or they show me. I'm pretty happy that I've been keeping up on this particular resolution so resolutely. I'm well on my way to my better beach body. Go me!

Random Bit of the Day
I've been experiencing difficulties getting to sleep at a decent time these past few nights (for reasons completely obvious to me, but not worth sharing). Last night, I was explaining my woes to my best guy pal Jason via Skype video chat when he said I should check out some video on YouTube. So I opened a new Safari browser and the front page story on my Yahoo homepage at that particular moment was this:
5 Foods That Help You Sleep
What's really interesting is that I had just eaten a banana about 30 minutes before. Synchronicity is awesome and creepy like that. Unfortunately I couldn't really tell if the banana actually helped since we ended up talking until almost 1 am...

It's Thursday again?
Shame on me again for neglecting my blog again...and now a recap of the past week:
Last Friday, Matt and Angela and I hung out despite it being a Z-day for me. Angela really wanted to get me a haircut (for my birthday, which isn't till June) so she and Matt kept Zidane company while I was getting my hair chopped off by Angela's stylist at Studio 26. Then we had delicious soup, salad, and breadsticks at Olive Garden.
I worked most of the weekend. Sunday was Jason's birthday; Monday was Valentine's Day. The only thing of note that I did that day was apply for a job at a place that pays really really well despite the boring work and the required drug test. I'm hoping to hear back from them ASAP because I'm broke and I really need to get out of this house.
On the plus side, the weather's been almost like spring this past few days though we can't get too used to it since winter is definitely not over.
Unfortunately, I still haven't filed my taxes yet but I've started my loan consolidation processes so I feel slightly accomplished. I also finally heard back from the people in charge of the knitting and crocheting classes at Michaels. I am officially the primary instructor for crocheting and the backup for Deb's knitting. I, of course, have to take a course myself to get certified but I was told that I could take the course online while teaching classes in store. I'll get a gift card to pay for my supplies plus 50 bucks per 2-hour class. Sweet deal.
And now, since I finally got Z to sleep for his AM nap I'm going to utilize my time wisely. Workout followed by taxes if possible.

Random Bit of the Day
I made a similar version of this delicious savory monkey bread recipe the other night to share with Matt and Angela. We didn't have it at our Christmas breakfast dinner like I had hoped because apparently I forgot to request that Jessica make it (though I know I requested someone to make it!). At any rate, it's amazingly tasty but it doesn't really follow my new diet plan very well so I won't be making it much. But just in case any of you food-loving folks out there would like a taste of pure awesome, here is the recipe (which I requested from my sister after Christmas):
Savory Monkey Bread
1/2 cup melted butter
1 clove minced garlic
2 tsp dried parsley flakes
1 tsp dried chives
1/2 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp dried oregano
2 packages of refrigerator buttermilk biscuits
Mix seasoning with butter. Cut up biscuits (6-8 pcs per biscuit) and dip in butter mix, place evenly in greased fluted pan (bunt cake pan). Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 18 to 20 min or until golden brown. Remove from pan and serve.

Random Bit of the Day
I went over to Matt and Angela's tonight...we totally just vegged out and watched TV. I saw this absolutely fascinating show called Extreme Couponing about people who save oodles of cash by being ridiculously OCD about clipping coupons. Here's a little tidbit more about that.... http://thekrazycouponlady.com/2010/12/28/good-morning-america-tlcs-extreme-couponing/
We also watched that show What Not to Wear. It made me take a look at what I'm wearing tonight and laugh a little. Right now I'm wearing a pair a light blue/green fleece drawstring pants (with a burn hole and several paint stains), a pink/white floral sports bra loosely covered by a wife-beater style tank with a black/white hexagonal pattern print, a black hoodie with a black/white horizontal stripe pattern inside the hood, purple/tan argyle socks...and earlier a multi-colored pastel striped scarf and my fur-lined short snow boots. W. O. W. I am the epitome of style.

Last Day of the Year
I sold a couple of hats to Jon from work yesterday. Both bears...I did actually sew a face onto the pink one; it's not there in the pics because I added the face at work yesterday before my shift and left the hats there for Jon to pick up this morning.
So yesterday afternoon I met up with Mom and we got the new tires for my car. Jon treated us to lunch at BK and we shopped at Kohl's afterward. It was raining through the early part of the day but by the time we headed from Kohl's back to Tires Plus Mom's car had iced over. My car was even worse having only been sitting in the lot for about a half hour. Despite not having to work for another hour and a half I decided to go there instead of home because of the freezing rain. I did pick up an new ice scraper and some anti-freeze from Walmart. And I managed to de-ice all the windows by the time I had to punch in and by that time it had switched from rain to snow as well.
If anybody thought the weather was bad last night...they were dead wrong. There is a massive blizzard raging outside right now. It's currently 3 degrees, windy, and snowing with accumulations from 5-8 inches expected. It is a B-E-A-U-tiful day!
Actually, once Terri gets home from her faux day at work, I'll go out and shovel for my "work-out". Though I've been starting to ease myself into more healthy eating habits this past week, tomorrow starts my serious diet and lifestyle change. For too long I've let myself become complacent and lazy. No more...I'm going to shovel now because Z is sleeping.

Continuing Christmas
I was so exhausted last night I didn't really go into much detail about anything but the new baby bump. Since Z is pretty content playing with his new toys, I will do so now.
So we celebrated our immediate family Christmas this year for the first time ever somewhere else than Mom and Dad's house. We spent it at Jon and Marcy's new home which is larger and better accommodates my ever-growing family. I arrived after work, just in time for dinner. We had our recent yet continuing tradition of a breakfast themed meal. There was a large ham, a sausage and bacon egg bake, cheesy hash browns and caramel monkey bread. I was a little bummed that Jessica didn't make her savory monkey bread, but I'm going to get the recipe from her and make it sometime this week for Matt and Angela and myself. There was an assortment of juices and milk to accompany the meal. Chloe was being a little goofball all through dinner, little cutie.
Afterward we all went downstairs to open presents. Overall, I think everybody did pretty well. It was very chaotic having 9 adults, a little kid and 2 babies yelling and unwrapping and carrying on. From what I saw, I know that Jon and Aaron each got a fire-pit. Terri and Aaron got a blu-ray player. Each of the couples got a few coupley gifts from Mom and Dad. All the ladies got cool glass brick Christmas light things...Terri's and Marcy's were filled with seashells as well as lights, and Jess's and mine had bows to make them look like a wrapped gift. Marcy got a big shoe rack (to keep her organized, hah...the girl's more organized than an organizing specialist). Little Chloe and babies Ella and Zidane got a lot of new books from my folks. Matt got some funny t-shirts. Chloe got tons of princess paraphernalia. Mom and Dad got a George Foreman grill. That's about the extent of what I saw in the madness.
I personally received 15 neckties from Terri and Aaron for my tie rug. From Jon and Marcy I got a bottle of my favorite perfume (Fantasy, which I've been out of for months!). From Jessica and Matt I got a variety of flavored coffees, including Southern Comfort and Jack Daniels. I got a string of lights that have cool paper lantern covers on each of them; I think Terri and Jess picked them out. I got 3 t-shirt dresses and a sweet new tank top. I got the laser level I wanted from dad and a 1/2 hour massage certificate from my mom. Most of the stuff I got obviously doesn't amount to monetarily what the others received but my mom and dad told me that my main gift is new tires for my car. YAY!!! I'm totally stoked that I'm getting new tires...it's one less expense to worry about and I'll be able to relax a little bit when I'm driving in the snow. Right now, it's always a white-knuckled chore worrying about sliding off the road.
After presents and whatnot pretty much everyone decided to head home...I ended up going to Matt and Angela's to exchange gifts with them. They gave me a eucalyptus mint candle, a really neat handbag made from recycled plastic, some body cream that smells amazing and a little wooden mind puzzle. Altogether, I had a pretty awesome Christmas and New Year's is just around the corner.

Hippos and Finger cuts.
I sold this hippo today...or rather, my mom sold it for me as she brought my baby hats to school this week to see if there was interest amongst her coworkers.
Score! Another one of my personal favs sold.
On a not so awesome note, I sliced my left index finger open on a giant piece of glass today...curse that stupid jersey sew! The cut's right on the pad so typing takes longer. It's actually kinda nasty...I need to better equip my at-home first-aid kit for cuts of this nature. I need some rubbing alcohol, neosporin and more bandaids. I have work in the morning so I can doctor it there.
On another better note, I finished Angela's marvelous soft plum hat and scarf with tassels set this evening. I also worked for awhile on Ella's monster...though it's coming along nicely now, I'm gilding the lilies so to speak when it comes to the decorative elements so it's taking longer than expected. It will be so wonderfully awesome when it's finished. Everyone will want one.
That's all for now.
Score! Another one of my personal favs sold.
On a not so awesome note, I sliced my left index finger open on a giant piece of glass today...curse that stupid jersey sew! The cut's right on the pad so typing takes longer. More Gifting...
So I'm starting to notice a trend here...I go through phases of blogging between projects with deadlines. When I have something that needs to be done by a certain time, I devote as much of my spare time to it as possible. And while I could have easily posted a quickie before bed (heh), I've been watching a lot of Christmasy things these last few days.
I LOVE Christmas movies and tv shows. Actually, just a minute ago I was looking for something to watch and a movie called Nothing Like the Holidays is on one of the Encore channels...It seems way more inviting than the show I'm watching on NatGeo, Seconds from Disaster, though it's good as well. The movie doesn't start for a few minutes still.
Strange thing is that Z is still sleeping. I thought for sure he'd be up by now, but I don't mind. I guess he didn't sleep well last night...I personally think that Aaron and Terri should start letting him put himself back to sleep. He's over 8 months old now; gotta break bad habits like that or he'll forever think it's ok to wake up frequently at night.
So anyways, the projects I've been working on are obviously my Christmas gifts. I finished the painting of Baby Ella and have moved on to the painting of Blue and Peewee. I've also made the hats for Z and Ella and plan on today finishing up the appendages and choosing eyes for them. Saturday night I worked at Empty Bowls at the Wash Pav. I ended up paying the 10 bucks to take a bowl made by the Action Arts kids. I decided I wanted to give the bowl to Matt (as in my friend, not my brother-in-law). So the next day when I was working at Michaels, I got a couple of super soft dark purple skeins of yarn (Loops and Threads, Charisma for like $1.50 each!!!) to make Angela a nice hat and scarf set. I think I'll be able to get everything finished in time for when we actually celebrate Christmas, which this year is going to be the 26th. Sunday night we'll have our big breakfast dinner and exchange gifts at Jon and Marcy's house. So I have until then. If I can, I also want to knit my dad a hat but that's less likely to be finished on time because knitting takes so much longer than crocheting. I figure since he just reminded me of it the other day that it'll be alright if I work on it while I'm there. It'll be strange to have Christmas somewhere other than Mom and Dad's. Strange but good since Jon and Marcy's place is huge.
That reminds me that last night before I fell asleep I was thinking about my family in linear terms. I had this idea last Christmastime for a kid's storybook about my family, sort of a Seaman Saga. Starting with my dad, each page would be about one person. I still don't know how exactly I want to make the book. I had thought of canvas pages with fiber use and painting but that's just a start. I did decide the order in which I'd like to put the pages though. In numerical and chronological order, my family line is as follows:
1 Ron Seaman
2 Nancy Wingert Seaman
3 Aaron Seaman
4 Jessica Seaman Christiansen
5 Ashley Seaman
6 Jonathan Seaman
7 Terri Kessler Seaman
8 Chloe Seaman
9 Matt Christiansen
10 Ella Christiansen
11 Zidane Seaman
12 Marcy Wagner Seaman
The book will probably have birth dates and places for everyone, anniversaries for the married, and some sort of differentiation between generations. I like this order because then I can continue adding to the book as the family grows. I guess what made me even remember this scrap of an idea was that when I was over at Mom and Dad's on Saturday morning for coffee I read dad's latest Christmas newsletter the "Seaman Saga 2010". In it he talked about how the family has grown for 9 members to 12 all in the last year. It's pretty crazy since our additions have been infrequent in the past...like Terri June 2004, Chloe February 2007, and Matt October 2008. So this book is going to be a sometime-down-the-line project that I'm going to just stew on for awhile. In the meantime, I'm going to get back to working on my gifts. Z will probably wake up soon anyways and I've been blogging for a long time since I keep getting distracted by this movie...it's really good and it's set in the only other place besides home that's close to my heart...Chicago.

Work work work and sick to boot
I woke up very fluish early this morning, after having gone to bed pretty late...It was a Z day so I was home for the day and then worked again this evening. I've got lots of hours this week and it's been kinda nutso. I went to Matt and Angela's house last night for a little art night. Strange thing is that both Angela and I were sick sick sick this morning. Actually she was all day. I stopped feeling nauseous long enough to eat earlier. But I've been feeling queasy since shortly before I left for my shift. Despite having had very little but water today, I'm still debating whether to try eating something before bed. Better not; better safe than sorry.
Anyways, my key projects outside of work now are Christmas presents for my family.
I'm still pondering Mom and Dad, though I'm considering buying a ready-made open back frame for one of my paintings that is hanging in their house. I'm pretty sure the size is 16" x 20" but I'll prolly sneak over there during the day to measure and to check how wide a frame can fit in the space allowed.
For Aaron and Terri, I'm thinking of basically doing a scaled back version of Ella's nursery mural only frog-themed. I'd probably be able to use the leftover paint from Ella's if it's still good.
For Jessica and Matt, I want to do 2-8" x 10" paintings; one of little Miss Ella herself and one of Blue and Peewee.
I'm still not sure what to do for Jon and Marcy yet, though another open-back frame for the painting I did for their wedding is a potential idea.
For Chloe, I'm doing a small gouache painting of my goldfish silhouettes forming transparencies by overlapping. I plan on putting it in a little float frame...I know it's not a super exciting gift for an almost 4-year old but knowing her dad and stepmom, she'll have it forever.
For Ella and Z, I'm making them baby hats...a monster or 2 for Ella, a bear and a basic brown hat for Z.
That about covers everyone.
I totally lost a ton of potential work time today on my gifts because of this nasty bug. L.A.M.E.
I just didn't feel like painting...you know something's wrong with me if I don't want to paint. Sheesh.
Well, I don't work till 2 tomorrow so I may indulge on some breakfast in bed (ie my guilty pleasure show on soap net) and paint. I look forward to real breakfast too...my morning today was just all sorts of outta whack without my coffee. And with that I bid you adieu...

What's missing?
So someone asked me yesterday if I'm glad to be back in Sioux Falls. That is a really tough question to answer.
First off, if things hadn't gone awry for me financially in the fall of last year, I would not even be here. But if I'm going to think about what might have been, I might mention that I should have a 2-3 month old baby right now. Things obviously don't always end up like they're supposed to.
Secondly, of course I'm glad to be back. The worst part about living in Chicago was being away from my family. We're super tight, my fam and I. However, there are many things I've come to miss about life in Chicago.
Off the top of my head, five specific things:
1. Living with Holly: I miss my best friend all the time. Chicago was great with Holly around but we could live together anywhere and it'd be awesome. She's my hetero-lifemate, to borrow a phrase. I dream distant dreams of moving out to California with her and Kelly and us being the 3 Musketeers again.
2. Commuting: as long as I was on time, I usually liked traveling via the CTA. I would rock my iPod the whole trek and either read a book or draw. I can't multitask when in transit here, though I can sing along to the iPod as loudly as I want.
3. John's Pizzeria: it was so close to my apartment and so much more delicious than most any other pizza in Chi. Of course everyone craves different pizza places and I will admit I ordered Dominos more than the average person the last year or so I lived there. But John's will always be in my top five favorite pizzas of all time.
---Just an aside, I have not watched it as of late but I think it's pretty apparent the affinity I have with John Cusack's character and his 'top 5 lists' in High Fidelity.
4. The architecture: Chicago has amazing architecture. The birthplace of the skyscraper. I'm proud to say that I've lived in a place so rich with interesting history, despite all the conflicts and trials. It just shows how resourceful humankind is when faced with extreme obstacles. I could go on and on...
5. My artist community: I miss being surrounded by artists of all sorts at all times. While I do have a few people here sort of creating a smaller version, it's difficult to force myself into the art world without the people I grew to rely on in Chicago. I feel like I might have taken a few people for granted in not keeping up with them after I moved back home. I do think of them often even though I don't communicate it. I've never been good at keeping up.
I guess what's prompted this nostalgic post is that when I went out this morning for groceries I decided that I rather like what my life has become here in Sioux Falls, despite the constant stress of money. It made me actually stop and remember that towards the end of my time in Chicago that I had become somewhat of a hermit, never going anywhere. I feel like that's changed here and that while I am quite ready for someone special to come into my life, it doesn't have to happen right now.
So I guess the answer to the tough question is yes. yes, but...

Denver
Aside from a layover or two, I've only really been to Denver, CO once. It was on my roadtrip with Holly from LA to Chicago in May 2009. We had left Los Angeles around 9 pm and had been driving for about 21 hours straight upon our arrival to Denver. Holly's friend Dennis lived there and was going to put us up for the night. Though totally exhausted beyond just sleep deprivation, we ended up going out to a nice little bar downtown for a few drinks after dinner. We walked down the road to a bridge across the river. I took these few pictures from the bridge.
I love the lines and geometry of this bridge.
But the really great part of this stop on the trip was the company:
yeeeaaa, yeeeaaa...
We could see the big sign for Union Station.

Turning irritation and frustration into productivity...
That's what the rest of today is for...
I just want to throw something out into the internet universe that I decided today that I want to do.
I want to go on a hot air balloon ride with my best good friend.
If I do that, I may one day consider sky diving. I just think that being that high up outside an airplane is a rush I can only dream of...and I want it.

Today...
Here's today in a nutshell:
I decided today's the day. And that makes me a frustrated and irritated being. But still. Today.
The guy who delivered my Potbelly's sandwich a few nights ago also fixed me my venti iced hazelnut coffee at Starbucks today...his beard is super-fly.
I DON'T LIKE PEOPLE I DON'T KNOW CALLING ME ASH!...MY NAME IS ASHLEY. IF YOU DON'T KNOW ME, THAT IS ALL YOU ARE ALLOWED TO CALL ME...Thanks.
I'm so glad I had another job interview after work today because I am not making nearly enough money to deal with the bullshit that goes on at that effing store now...I did enjoy my crew today though: Noemi, Zak, Gabi, Andy, and Mike...you guys rock my socks off...seriously. I really enjoyed hearing about how Noemi gave Gabi and her girlfriend a lapdance last night at the bar because the ladies wouldn't dance. It was super sweet that Zak accidentally showed up an hour early (when his coworkers that were supposed to be there at that time were both late); he is TOTALLY AWESOME. FOR REAL. Andy and I had 3 seperate conversations today that lead to the movie "Dumb and Dumber"...unbelieveably stupid movie (that I quite honestly don't think I've actually seen from beginning to end completely), but still some funny references...and also I just think he's going to be a good person to know... And Mike...I miss you, Mike.
After work:
The interview went well, I think. It was with the girl at the company with whom Amanda has not gotten along with so well so far. But I thought she was nice and I don't think I'd mind working with her. I went straight to the Armitage store by the brown line stop after I left work. I saw this couple on the bus that were Bears fans (complete with matching Urlacher jerseys). I didn't have my headphones in so I heard them talking about getting off at Elston. They totally didn't do it (cuz they weren't sure or something) but I saw them again on the way home when they got on the bus at Wood and Armitage... It is not unusual for me to see the same people on the same bus multiple times a day or week. However, it's far more unusual on the weekends, and definitely very unusual for unusual CTA users. Also, there was a really nice thing going on in the Lincoln Park neighborhood that I'm kind of ashamed to say I was annoyed with. There were little stations all along Armitage (at least 8 between Racine and Fremont, only 4 blocks) that had puppies and dogs up for adoption. Even though it's totally awesome that people are trying to find homes for all the homeless animals in our community, the people that were looking at the dogs were SUPER ANNOYING. Do you seriously need to stop dead in the middle of the sidewalk when there are people trying to get places walking directly behind you. And I felt like the rude one every time I said "excuse me" trying to get past the masses. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
I talked to my fav one JN around then...wish I could talk to him every day without feeling like a total lamo nuisance...
When I got home, I was super irritated, annoyed and wanting to do things I shouldn't so I cleaned the kitchen and did all the dishes so that I wouldn't accidentally strangle my roommates in their sleeps...
No matter how frustrated I can get with my darling Holly, I cannot thank her enough for being my roommate, my friend, and the one I can take care of. We spent the afternoon cleaning and bitching about stupid things (super sweet!) until her D&D buddies inadvertantly kicked me out...Does this make me too cool or supremely lame???
I'm going to say TOO COOL (cuz I think D&D is lame...).
And now...Rum and...Diet Pepsi...cuz that's my drink of choice. AND tomorrow is my very first obligation-free day (meaning work, internship, errand, travel) since the 4th of July...meaning I'm going to be doing everything and nothing without leaving my apartment, including sleeping in. (I wonder how late I can go...probably not very late. I'm going to go with 9 am at the latest as my wake up time)...

Who drew this panda?
I was sorting through these old post-its from my first year in Chicago, in college. I want to put together a sort of weird album of people I've met using post-its they've written either to me or in my living space. I found a lot of notes from freshman year that I can't remember who wrote or drew them. One in particular has me puzzled...I'm sure I know who drew the smoking panda but I can't remember just now...
(other people's notes in the pic: 3 top left, me; top right, Chris G.; middle left, Carly R.; middle tag, Coale S.; middle right, Lizz B.; bottom, Cherry Y.)
