New Year.

I'm pretty sure I have tried to get myself back blogging every New Year for the last 4 years trying to regain the momentum I once had.  I am not going to promise that I'll be consistent or frequent this year but I will put in an update now and then.  I don't even think I'm going to make any real resolutions because I just don't care to this year.  I'm still trying to adjust to my recent massive life change: I got hired for a sales position at Hom Furniture and started working there in early November.  The commute is virtually identical to the one I had all those years at Michaels but that is one of very few similarities between the two jobs.  I spent a couple weeks computer training and another couple shadowing an associate before diving into selling solo on Black Friday of all days!  The job is plain and simple: selling furniture for commission.  I like that about it and it pretty much comes naturally from my many years in retail and food service.  There are some parts that can get complicated with custom ordering and design.  But there's a lot of down time which I think is a main contributor to the gossipy social state between employees.  I have learned from observation and hearsay the way things work between the salespeople, management and guest services people.  It has been interesting learning the ways of Hom Furniture but I think it is a good fit and I'm happy with my decision to finally make the change.

In other news, Skylar is getting bigger and smarter all the time.  We have officially been potty training for a whole year and we're still not quite there yet.  She's stubborn and tricky, always keeping me on my toes.  But really she's awesome...see:
